Sorry I forgot to add that part. This is correct though if it is making noise it's most likely not dead....yet.....you said sometimes it stays on. I would check all your wiring something might be touching somewhere where it shouldn't be.

i bought an f4i that had been sittin and i started it with dead gas and it done the same thing but it fouled my plugs thats why mine wouldnt start

Thanks for all of the help guys. I've been searchin' all day and I found a pretty good deal on a fuel pump. I also bought some fresh spark plugs. I hope this works.

I installed some new spark plugs today and now the bike runs fine. I guess that's what the problem was from the start. My new fuel pump won't be in until next week. I'll keep as a backup, as I've learned that the F4i fuel pumps are notorious for going bad. Thanks for all of the suggestions guys. This forum is awesome, I just wished that the search function worked.
