Clutch Spring Torque

Im changing the clutches on a vtr1000 superhawk. I am installing new springs and the manual say tighten to 9ft lbs/12nm. But the bolt is not even half way in before im showing 9 lbs.

Anyone else ever come across this or have a better way.

Re: Clutch Spring Torque

clutch bolts will break easy. Make sure you re-read everything and maybe spray some WD40 to ease them in. Patience is the key.

make sure there is nothing in the threads like thread lock and if you have to clean them out use a thread chaser not a tap because a tap will leave metal flakes and a chase will just clean any crap out......and yes oil the threads also but then blow out any excces oil from the hole
