f4i battery draining

so we put a new battery in my buddies 01 f4i, the bike hasd been sitting for acouple months, but it fired right up the first time, we did a lil tlc to it...and went to start it again and it started but it struggled a lil bit....i thot it was just old oil or a lil bad gas so i told him to go put sum new gas in and we changed the oil....i threw it on the charger over night, and it fired right up perfect again,he took it it home and went to work...he came over the next day brot me out side hit the starter and it turned over like 5 times before it finally started, then he left went to get gas and it wudnt start......so im wondering what could be draining the power from it?

Re: f4i battery draining

check the charging voltage... should be something like 14.2v @ 5k rpm across the battery terminals ... if it's much less it maybe stator or if it's much more it may be reg/rec

or it could just be a loose battery connection...

Re: f4i battery draining

if it has enough juice to turn the fly wheel.. it has enough to run the injectors/coils etc... sounds like that bike has bigger issues.
