Suzuki katanna + Ex Girlfriend = Repair bill
I have a 2002 Suzuki Katanna and it was recently kicked over by my ex and It stayed on its side for about 24 hours due to myself not being home. I tried starting it up and it took me almost an hour and when i finally got it the engine spat out oil smoke. What caused this? it runs like crap too. i don't drive it right now because of this. I am a noob when it comes to mechanical stuff about the engine so could you tell me in extreme detail how to fix this? I already got the body off.

oil in the air box. pull the plugs out crank the motor over to pump out the oil that got in there put new plugs in the bike and put iy back together if it still runs like **** you may have bent a rod or something from try ing to crank it over after you picked it up. also *** far as the ex you can fix that with a bat to her car

What part is the airbox? I took off some parts and pulled this thing connected to some springs. I didn't see any spark plugs but at the same time I didn't look too hard due to my innevitability to break things more when i try to fix it. Where are the plugs located, may be a better way to ask the question. That would help out a bit.
As far as me owning this bike for all you useless posters: I got it because I wanted something on two wheels. i love the feeling of riding reguardless of the bike. So :P An R6 is my next purchase on the aggenda.
And the base ball to ex's car thing... <.< >.> Taken care of...

spark plugs are on the top of the engine follow the plug wires
the air box is that big black funny looking thing that is connected to the carbs. The air box has a few screews in it take them off and you can get at the filter pull it out and check for oil in the bottom of the box.
Yes the tank will need to come off to make it easyer to get at everything
Just save yourself alot of problems and put that thing in a dumpster and get another bike you will thank yourself when you find out how nice a "R" bike of any brand rides (03+up)

Yeah I would say oil got into the airbox or past the rings into the comb. chamber....it may smoke for a few minutes but should eventually go away....I dont think you will need new plugs I would just run it. It doesnt take that much oil to cause a smoke screen plus your bike will let you know if you need new plugs...

Yeah you gotta get the air flowin thru that filter so just set it in neutral and redline it until you hear a little ticking noise, thats when you know it all clear. PRoblem fixed.

Re: Suzuki katanna + Ex Girlfriend = Repair bill
Im not that familier with Katanas but I think its more likely that oil got past the rings than got in the airbox...but thats an un-educated guess as it depends on how the pcv system is set up....good luck

gswitch you left out 1 detail ----> Ya gotta drain the oil out of it first Other wise it will take forever. No oil and revlimeter held on will slove prob. in a few seconds.
Stop trying to help when you don't know how to do it the right way!!!!
