Hand brake for a gimp

So i got a new one for 'yall'

i lost my middle finger and jacked up my index finger on my left hand last winter.
story

I want a hand brake on my bike but i have just my index finger which works at about 75% (movment and strength). Right now i have a 1000rr MC for my HB but i don't have the finger power.

I have a buell xb9r and just one rear caliper

I think i'm gonna need a hb with a smaller bore. what do you suggest?
thanks

Re: Hand brake for a gimp

some calipers have got a dual system on race bikes
and a honda black bird cb1000
has daul system linked
if take one of them its got 3 pistons 2 work with 1 input and 1 piston with the other so its like haveing 2 calipers in 1
so its just mounting it that the problem

i aint tryed it yet but have started getting the bits

Interesting....

i was thinking more along the lines of: "Which HB would be easier to squeeze?"

Re: Hand brake for a gimp

ok so maybe
if u use on of these 3 piston calipers
link the hand brake to the circut that runs the 2 out side pistons
and the 2nd circut that runs the central piston to ur foot master
duno tho just an idea im trying to work out

Re: Hand brake for a gimp

Been a while since any classes in hydraulics but from what I can remember the smaller the piston size the more pressure you will make. In turn it's easier to pull:YEAH

I can pull out some hydro books tonight or brake design blueprints and check for sure if noone else knows....

The caliper he mentioned with the (can't remember the exact number) extra pistons will work but it will require more stroke from the master cylinder piston ( in turn more pull in movementof the brake handle) to have the same effect as a standard piston caliper. A small piston master cylinder would not be suited well and not able to displace enough fluid to make the advantages of the extra piston caliper worth while. I am sure you could get a bigger bore master cylinder to work great with that caliper but not going to give the feel you are looking for.
Just my
