Re: Silicone Based Brake Fluid....

DO NOT use silicone based fluids. you can only use DOT 4 or 5.1 in our systems. 5.1 is a higher boiling point. I've always used Honda DOT4. DOT5 is silicone based and used for most american bikes. it will cause the seals to swell and destroy your brake system.

Use what Nags recommends if you are going to be doing heavy use. I've never boiled mine and i use Honda DOT4. Just make sure you use a clean bottle and don't keep it open very long because moisture will get in and lower your boiling point.

Re: Silicone Based Brake Fluid....

The Motorex 5.1 is the best **** on the market. All my boys run it and it's damn near impossible to boil. Binder929rr is right about that fluid ruining your system, so take it out immediately.

Re: Silicone Based Brake Fluid....

If it is DOT 5, you might have to replace all the seals in your brake system already. I use the Motorex 5.1 :YEAH

Re: Silicone Based Brake Fluid....

I would guess if it was really silicone, you would have known by now. I would just flush it then. Maybe it was 5.1 the shop put in there.
