Painting frames and swingarm

Im have my frame stripped and am going to paint my frame. Is there anything you need to do to it before you paint. ie. sand or some sort of base coat...etc. Plastics will be flat black, thinking of painting frame black or a green ( i like green). Any info would be great. Oh 03 gsxr.

Re: Painting frames and swingarm

i would use a degreaser (surface prep same for sutobody panels)

then 1.wet sand the frame with a scoth brite pad or 600

then 2. prime 3.repeat color sand, 4.paint and5. clear then you 6.wetsand or block sand with a light grit whatever you prefer7. buff out .

if you go to bare mettal you need to use etching primer. if not the paint will come off in a week from the heat.
