fork seals
my seals are blown to **** and yes i do know its from slamming the front end down but what is the trick to forks if any that people do to prevent them from blowing and for stoppies............
ive heard of people putting a small piece of pvc pipe in the forks or adding slightly more oil in the forks. plus what all should i replace the seals, bushings, what else..........
oh i do have 929 forks on a f4i if that helps.....
thanks
john

Re: fork seals
just get good at changin them man....make sure when u do change them that u let them drip completly and u leave the specified amount of air in the tubes
and when seating the seals ive had best luck with using a pvc driver tool that i made and puttin that over the lower tube and hitting the outer tube down on it in one swift motion
if u have to beat ur seals to get them in ur pretty much gunna blow them after a good slam
good luck!

I don't think there's any trick to getting them not to blow after a while. Just get em rebuilt the correct way and you should be fine for awhile.
It's hard to tell you what to replace since we can't see what they look like, I'd say the seals definately need replaced.
Don't add slightly more oil, do it just like its recommended. Also I take em to a race prep shop not just your local dealerships. From experience I've noticed that the race shops do a better job, have better mechanics, do it right the first time and can get them done in a day or 2 at most.

Re: fork seals
I put 15 weight fork oil in mine last time I re-built them. They're definately stiffer and work great. I did my own last time because I always heard they were so tough to do. They were actually easy! Just do like the manual says and no problems!!
