929 Headlight help/suggestions

Ok so Last night my headlights stopped working and the turn signals stayed on permanently. After some messing around with a test light i found the problem to be a bad ground. Since i was in a pinch i just created a NEW ground for the headlight. i grounded the ground wire to the fairing stay and it works now. my question is, where would it be most common to find the bad ground to prevent future problems? Is this common on the 929?

I dont want to trace through the WHOLE electrical system, so if someone has experienced this before or can tell me where it is MOST LIEKELY to happen that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

Re: 929 Headlight help/suggestions

My headlights went out on me a long time ago. I replaced the relay on the headlight...didn't work. I replaced the headlight/turn signal cluster...didn't work. I figured something went bad on the upper wiring harness so i just took out the headlight and mounted a fog light kit. Ever since then, i've been to lazy to mess with it.

Also, before I removed the headlight...the low beam didn't work, the turn signals worked, the horn worked, but the high beam didn't work. Not even the little blue high beam icon would show up on the speedo.

Re: 929 Headlight help/suggestions

Not sure. We tried everything to get it working but there was no active ground. But I already had a fog light kit on my bike. So we cut the wiring to one of the fog lights. Then we hooked them up to my low beam and ran another ground wire. That worked. Either way i got my headlight mounted up and it works fine. lol This thread gave me the inspiration to fix it!
