problem with shifting

hey guys i seem to have a problem with my bike when i shift, some times the shifter wont move or its rock hard, i have about 6000 mile on my odo has this problem happend to anybody??

thanx...

first make sure the shift rod is not geting hung up on the foot lever, otherwords everything external is tight. there could also be a notched shift drum, or miss-alighned shift detent wich is internal.
