clutch basket

Anyone know the type of aluminum used on the clutch basket in a '00 f4? Mine is cracked and missing a peice, and I don't have nearly $300 for a new one, I do however have access to tig welders and some machining equipment... I figure I'll do it myself and if it doesnt work it doesnt work, but if it does then I save $300 bucks...

Metal is metal regardless of whether it's welded or not. I have the training and proper equipment of doing it, I just wanna use the best filler, lol.

Re: clutch basket

Now that I think about it... I forgot it's a 'wearable' item so if it's broken I'm assuming it's worn and will break again else where very soon... Perhaps I will pass. The results would be interesting though .
