APE cam chain tensioner on f4i..

APE cam chain tensioner on f4i..
whats the easiest way to install and adjust it? or do i have to take the top of the motor off to check how tight the chains get? or can i just remove the old tensioner put the new in and just tighten it some and go from there? trying to go the easiest route here
