636 Engine Problem - Need Help
Check it out so I'm doing a chain saw and after I let go and pick up the bike I notice this clanging sound in my engine which gets louder the higher RPM's I'm at so I pull over and listen. It sounds like a bolt is banging around inside of the engine and when I speed up it stops but when I'm at the same speed it gets real loud like when I'm at idle and ****. If I turn off the bike and let her coast there is no noise. I think it might be the cam chain tensioner, what you guys think?
I'm gonna try fixing the CCT today by putting the bike in 6th gear, turning it off and backing it up 20 feet. I heard thats how you tighten it up the getto way LOL.

how loud is the clanging noise?? if its REAL loud, it could be a loose cage, or if you run a bar through header cage (905) the cross bar could be touching your oil pan..which creates an awful noise....if its not quite as loud it could be a cct..but alwys start with the easiest possible fix first..i.e. cage.
