Help with a 2000 R6

Well, being the n00b that I am, I dropped my bike the first day I got it. Well, the next day, i'm driving and I go to cross traffic and the bike starts spuddering and the bike wants to die. I coast into a parking lot and the bike completely shuts off. the Bike then starts back up. I get about a mile down the street and the bike starts to do the same thing again once under 3k RMPS. Finally I get to a light and have to come to a complete stop and the bike dies. Now, the only way it will even start up is if I jump it. And after I jump the bike, i'll let it idle, and then the speedo will turn off and if I put it in gear and try to ride off, it will die. My guess is the Stator wires came loose or fried. The battery is brand new and less than a week old. The battery that was in there before was to small for the bike so may have put a lot of strain on the Stator too. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

right on, I had to re-read your post. What are you jumpin the bike with? Is the new battery @ 12.5 volts? If not, it'll have to be charged then hook a multi-meter to your battery and start the bike and hold it at about about 4grand, then see if its going above 13. Either way it DOES sound like a stator/regulator rectifier problem.

Re: Help with a 2000 R6

Why would the speedo turn off and why would it make no attempt to turn over if it was a fuel problem?

aight, just looked up some chit for ya, check the main fuse, then make sure the battery is good, then check your system with a multimeter. its actually 14V @ 5grand. If its not charging, then check your stator wires.

.27-.33 ohms. If the stator ohms out fine, and it wont charge, then replace the reg/rectifier. Heres some part numbers.

5EB-81410-00-00 stator $184.43
4JH-81960-01-00 reg/rectifier $79.65
5EB-15451-00-00 gasket $3.66

hope you get it fixed up.
