Re: f4i idling high n low
If you have checked out all of the above also check out your ground. Check the ground wire terminal on the battery. If there is any corrosion, hit it with some sandpaper. Also check where it grounds out on the motor. Sometimes it comes loose. Also check the positive terminal on the battery for corrosion, hit it with some sandpaper. Check the starter to make sure no wires are loose. Also by the fuse box there is a little box where the positive battery terminal splits and connects to the main wiring harness.. make sure everything is tight and that there is no corrosion. Also check the base of your ignition, sometimes the wires come loose where they are soldered on the inside of the ignition. Check the ignition connector where it connects to the main harness for corrosion as well. I know that sounds like a lot of crap to check but the symptoms you describe sound an awful lot like corrosion or loose ground problems. I've seen it happen on 3 different f4is. Big scott had the same problem for a few months on his f4i and after me telling him to check the ground wire a hundred times he finally pulled the tank and found it was loose where it grounded to the block. Good luck.

my 929 does that too. it will idle high in nuetral, then when shift into gear it boggs. i have the idle adjuster upi top too.
my oil light and fi lights are on though?
what would that be?

Re: f4i idling high n low
its your vertical sensor. kinda like a tip over sensor,
you need to bypass it and instead of getting a FI light or idle surging it will display
"ya wheelies is gahhbage"
hahahahahahahahahaha !!!!!!!

i took the bike apart the only thing i could find is the rubber boots that the throttle bodies hook up to. there was oil built up all around them and they where loose so i took them off cleaned them and put them back on and tightend the **** out of them so now ill go test it out n let you guys know if its fixed or not.

Re: f4i idling high n low
ok found the problem
1st i thought it was the rubber boots on the throttle bodies.
this wasnt the fix
i took the o2 sensor off "disconnected it" bike ran fine.
for a air fuel ratio gauge and was running really lean. so i put the o2 sensor back in the mid pipe"it doesnt fit snug cause the mid pipe was custom made"
and wrapped it with exhaust wrap and put a few hose clamps and checked the air ratio and bike was running in between lean n rich which is good.
and the idle doesnt drop anymore =) im fricken happy the **** doesnt bog no more that was totally effin up my game . the bike is a cali bike so its got a o2 sensor . fricken ghey
thx for all your guys feedback n tryin to help me resolve this fricken nightmare.
