f4i wont turnover but starts when pushed

Re: f4i wont turnover but starts when pushed
ok the 12volt regulator/rectifier is a heat sink design for a reason... first off it distributed current/amps from the stator to the battery and dissipates unwanted/needed power into Heat thus its design. if the reg was burnt UP it the bike would not run longer then 20 minutes to due the stator DOES not put out enough amps to keep the bike running. the bettery would die with in 20-30 minutes of riding on a full charge.

Stator has nothing to do with the slow/sluggish starts... he Said On a fully charged battery it would barely turn over..

From what the manual says under...
Motor turns over slowly...it says bad battery or loose connection or bad starter motor and somethin else that I forgot.
I am going to double check all the fuses this weekend and then I guess order a new starter motor...seems odd that it would just die tho.

i think its the starter motor, did it on my gsxr & worked fine ever since. they go bad about every 3-4 years, at least thats what i was told by my friend who is a certified suzuki tech. not sure about the f4i but it solved my problems.

Re: f4i wont turnover but starts when pushed
i had a similar problem like this. My motor would start when cold but not when warm. It repleaced the battery, the voltage regulator, the stator, the startor. I could push start it but not crack it over. A few days later the motor blew. I guess the internal parts were expanding and wouldnt allow the motor to crank.

Re: f4i wont turnover but starts when pushed
Well we stuck a battery from a workin f4i in it and it started right up...think a busted regulator could have killed my battery and thats my only issue...has to be I think?

Be sure to check for gas in the cyclinder. take the airbox off and look in the cylinder (open the throttle first) after the bike has sat for a few hours. if there is gas in there, you will be hydrolocking. the starter won't crank it, and push starting it will be noticbly more difficult. But it needs to be fixed or you will start to really break ****. It is easy to do yourself, two bolts and a few hoses.
if there is fuel in the cylinder (number 2 cylinder= pressure regulator). if there is fuel in there replace this part first because it is cheapest.

damn, i should have read through the whole thread.

Re: f4i wont turnover but starts when pushed
^ Already had to replace the fuel pressure regulator...with a fresh battery the bike starts no problem but now we need to fig out why the battery died in the first place since the rectifier has been replaced.
