Re: Wiring a switch to my radiator fan

Usually the +12 comes to the fan always when the power is on. the fan kicks in when the temperature switch grounds the circuit. you need additional switch paraller to the temperature switch.

The switch is probably at the rad. Just short it out with piece of wire and if the fan kicks in, you have the right one. then just connect manual switch paraller to the switch.

this way the the automatic switching on/off works, but also your manual switch works.

Re: Wiring a switch to my radiator fan

i did this on my 98 RR. all u need 2 do is get a splitter conection (one wire to 2 wire) run that from the temp sensor to a switch. then run a ground wire from the switch to the frame. u should only need 2 wires, at least thats how mine is and the fan still kicks on automatically.

Here is my MS Paint rendition of the job. Just as it was explained by Jaket. Its just putting a switch between the two wires coming out of the thermostatic switch.

Re: Wiring a switch to my radiator fan

wait, i believe u gotta ground out the wire leading off the radiator temp switch, just tap into it and run a switch inline to a ground .
