Gearing a 929... Question...
Who has geared their 929? I have a 2001 929 and i am sick of fast wheelies, i want to slow them down... I would think the best way is to gear the bike along with learning better brake control. I was thinking of going 1 down in the front and 6 up in the rear, any suggestions.
Thanks,
Phil

gearing it down lets you have the same RPM's & power but go even slllooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwer...
say with stock gearing @ 5000 rpm's you're doing 20 mph, geared down you could be doing 5mph @ 5k rpm's......makes circles a lil easier... (so i'm told)

Gearing down lets you use less throttle.
With gearing for instance, no-handed 12's- you crank the idle up around 3000rpm's, ****** it up and the idle is enough to keep the bike rolling through the brake.
Doing that with stock gears makes the bike bog-down forcing you to use less brake control which in turn makes the bike "loosen up."

well i have an R6 as well. i used to be -1,+2 and thats a pretty good setup. i ride my bike everyday as a daily driver and now i have -1, +5. its not as bad as i thought it would be for riding everyday. but the gearing i have now really lets you slow **** down, i like it a lot. if you're not rockin 12's yet, -1, +2 is perfect.

I'm goin big. I went 1dn 9up. i rode it for like 4 hrs and am now goin 17up. My 900RR is 1dn 8up..rode a RR 1dn 19up and cracked off a ton more circles..u can almost stall the bike and never touch the clutch. So..I have a 9 up for sale used 4 hrs for a 929.

I would recommend -1 and +2 also, then after you get good at slowing it down and scraping you can gear it some more, if you go -1 and +6 you will probably get freaked out and it will take you longer to learn.
