about to buy a bike
I am looking to buy an 2000 sv 650, buy it, or no? I hear they blow up easy but is it really a big problem, as in does it happen real fast. I wont be doin any revlimiter stuff so i am not gonna be doggin the engine, real bad. Or should I just wait for an inline? Cory (?) d-aces had a tl and rode it for awhile.

It's prolly not the best choice for longevity, but there a lot of guys that rock twins... I miss mine ('03 SV650), it was a great bike.
Worst case scenario, you wreck the engine and...
You're lookin @ around 2-300 bux.

Re: about to buy a bike
I think those early models blow easier. Later models have some windage tray at the oil sump. This makes it little better, but it still blows.
And cory went through TL engines like crazy. at some point it was like engine number 6 or something. oil pickup can be modified a bit at the TL. But it's pain in the *** to modify, because you just cannot remove the sump like in I4's, you need to completely disassemble the engine.
I guess it's ok for power wheelies.
