f4i timing chain problems

f4i timing chain problems

yea im bout to get an F4i and someone told me that when u rev up all F4i's u can here the timing chain slapping around when u gas it and let off, cause i went to look at one and i didnt buy it because of that and i didnt know if that was the truth or not. so if anyone can tell me what the deal is with them. i heard something about an manual adjuster, but is every f4i gonna make that sound if u dont put one on?? cuase the one i looekd at only had 5500 miles on it so i thought the dude must of beat the **** outta it

yea the stock tensioners are crap.. so when it starts making noise get a manual adjusting one..

this is a common propblem with f4is. I beleive the name of it is CTC (cam timing tensioner) or something alone the lines of that. With my bike i hear a small wrattle at about 5500rpm as if there were bb's in a coffee cup or something to that extent. You should get this replaced ASAP. The part should be 80 bucks or less and you can pick up aftermarket manual adjusters from your local shop. If you replace it with a stock one the same problem will just occur again.
