riding idle

i have been trying to learn idle on my dirtbike. i can ride it ok but alot of the times the bike drops back behind bp and i slow it down real slow, just barely crawlin so then i hit the brake and use the gas to speed it up and try again . are there any tips to riding idle? i have been practicing as much as i can, but got kicked off the street by my house so i have to load it up and go other places. thanks in advance
