Rim Stripes for my gixxer

i have a question about Rim Stripes. i want to put them on my dunlop's on my gixxer. does anybody know exactly how they go on? haven't ordered them yet, but going to today, just deciding on color. probably end up going with orange to match the GSX-R logo on each faring and the <750> on the tail. so what is it like, 3m stick? does it peel right off? do you have to remove the wheels off the machine or can i just do it in my garage? any way to measure or do they just go right on? and if so, will they peel off after a few scrubs with the sponge? and is there an EXACT particular place on THE TIRE where they go? some knowledge, know-how and/or input would be great, i REALLY want to get this done.

Re: Rim Stripes for my gixxer

is it on the tyre or the rim???

if its the tyre dont do it

if its the rim then its so ****in hard to get em spot on, you'll find that when the wheel spins they wobble and dont look good, let someone at a wheel shop do em for you with paint its better

Re: Rim Stripes for my gixxer

why dont you get some paint and just spin your wheel and paint it on the rim. that way you can just touch it up if some comes off, just spin it again and hold the brush in the same spot. alot more practical if you ask me.

Re: Rim Stripes for my gixxer

I just done this myself. The stripe obviously goes on the lip of the rim. Applying the stripe isn't easy to get perfect. All you have to do is remove the wheels (I can't immagine doing it on the bike, even with stands) wash the wheels and the stick the tape on. I used my left thumb to press the tape on and my right hand to hold the roll and guide the tape around. If you notice a flat spot or you went off track, you can peel it back a few inches very easily and continue on. Take your time and have steady hands.

Here is my rear.

Re: Rim Stripes for my gixxer

you can probably use windex on the lip and position it with that to get it in the right spot. and it will just evaporate afterwards.
