I have one and it sux. it was $200 wasted. Just go and get the twin tube plastic epoxy at OSH. that stuff is sick! Makes it stonger than it was at the break if you clean and prep the surface well.

old plastics cut into strips and a sodering gun v the inside of the cracked plastic and then melt the strips in like welding steel just make sure its filling it all in and not try to lay beads i fixed lots of plastic that way and they all hold up really well

I've used this method a few times it works real good. The epoxy works good too. just depends what type of damage your trying to fix

but paying all that $$ for a plastic welder isnt worth it in my eyes overpriced soldering iron

a plastic welder def seems like a waste....my friend bought a 97 gixxer that was stunted and the tail was destroyed...he took it to our friend with a body shop and he used that patch with something like fiberglass but made for plastics and it is strong as hell and you cant even tell its there from the outside

**** that. plastic "welders" work good. you just have to do it right.

you have to prep the section...scrape the paint off and light sand. use plastic feeds into it and it works like tig welding. do that to fill the cracks up. BOTH SIDES. then just work the area around it to make everything smooth and nice. my plastics are coming out sick. just takes a lil time and effort.

again, depending on what you are looking for as the end result......i agree with the fiberglass type repair....... the soldering iron thing works but is a bit ghetto..( kinda like using your butter containers for tupperware )
but for certain cracks ect.. a plastic welder works best.... just go to harbor freight and get the 30.00 one...... the hard part is finding the air pressure..... around 6 psi works for me...... the best filler is another piece of fairing, i cut strips and use them...... it is just like tig welding, if you don't like the result, just do it again.... reweld over it with no filler...... sand and paint
good luck
