Dual caliper bracket?

Dual caliper bracket?
Is it easy for a welder to make a dual caliper bracket out of two stock brackets? On my 2000 R1 it would be VERY easy to weld two into one by putting one caliper at the opposite end of the other(red circle), but the swing arm is in the way. It looks like it would be tough to weld the second bracket to the rear (green circle) because there is not a flat spot on the rear of the bracket to weld up to. How does everyone else do this? Does anybody sell them? Racing 905 website looks like they sell them for the GSXR only.
(NOT an R1 in the picture, just all I could find on google for an example)

i have a 02 r1 with one caliper on the top and one on the bottom, the only problem with doign it that way is that you can not weld it together, if you did you wouldnt be able to slide the rotor in between the caliper, i'll snap a pic of it tomorow for you.

Why not go single caliper? The homemade masters Ive made work almost exactly as good as the FullThrottle I bought to replace it.......Less problems and less pads........

I like the idea of two independant systems.

Re: Dual caliper bracket?
believ it or not the top caliper is where the factory caliper sits, teh bottom one is the add on. on your year r1 i think the bottom is the original? its not welded but i didnt have to weld it cause if you look at the second picture the swingarm is channeled fro the caliper bracket to slid in. the part on teh caliper bracket taht slids in is squared. so i basicly cut it in half and slid it in but. i should have cut it a little difrent, none the less it works so im happy. let me know if you need any advice. peace

As for the R1, I just bought it from the other guy I ride with. He used it, and I've rode it quite a bit in the last couple seasons. No problems so far, and nothing has busted on it. Everyone says the Yamaha's are very delicate but I am yet to find out. I'm sure I'd rather have and 02+ model with ther FI, but this will do for now.

That is how linked brakes work on bikes such as the black bird, uses the same master cylinder from the front brakes to control some of the rear braking.
