Video?

I don't want to make a "stunt video" like a full length one, but I want to keep track of how me and the guys I stunt with are progressing, and make decent clips of us riding. Unfortunately, i'm the only one who's really interested in the multimedia aspect of it all (I'm a geek what can I say).
What's everyone using for video capture. I don't want to really spend more than 600 or 700 for a video camera, and I want it to be digital so I can edit on the PC at home. Thanks!

I like Sony products.

I'm using a Sony FX1 with Final cut.... But that's probably out of your price range. I would say go with a minidv cam that has firewire and use something like Vegas 6 or Premiere on your PC.

Re: Video?

Yup any mini dv cam.. .I have a JVC something for like 500 canadian... not great but more than good enough for fvckin around with... so 500 + a firewire card / cable @ around 100 or so... then use windows movie maker cuz it's simple and you're good to go. But yea premier is way better.

Re: Video?

i was looking at a review site, the panasonics seem to be decent also, it all depends on what my research adds up to as far as stunt shooting and all that jazz

Re: Video?

panasonic consumer cams are the best for the money. Get the highest one in the gs series that you can afford. Then buy a fire wire cable and download premiere

Re: Video?

I got a Sony Handycam HC-20 for 145 dollars on clearance, it's decent, b/w viewfinder, no video in so helmet cams are out, and picture quality is also decent.

It's good for amatuer documenting but nothing else really.

Re: Video?

I use a Canon ZR 85 it only cost me about 350-400 and I use Pinnacle studios 9 and it good enough for what I think you re looking to do. I dont know if you saw that one clip I made a while back but thats what I used.
