Re: f4i with 929 forks?

+1....It will make the f4i a completely different bike. The bars will hit the upper fairing stay, which is the only downfall I have found so far....otherwise..it is mint.

Hey guys I also am going to be swapping everything from a 929 to my F4i so how about bearings and hardware? Do you just use all of the hardware from the 929 meaning washer’s nuts and of course bearings?

+1 on the neck bearings, pop out the little collars in the frame and put sealed bearings in there they work great. But to do this u will have to remove the bearing races off the lower tripple tree steering stem. As for the forks, use everything. Forks, calipers, rotors, wheel, clipons, tripples. and remove the ram air tubes from the bike and u'll be set

Re: f4i with 929 forks?

So really the only problem is that the clip ons will hit the upper? and all u gotta do is rotate them out?

Re: f4i with 929 forks?

yup like everyone said before use all the 929 stuff, and while u have it apart u might as well put nebearings and races in the neck....also i wud suggest using the f4i front brake master cylinder cus when u wreck the 929 one breaks easily...so take it off and use the 929 master for a hb

Re: f4i with 929 forks?

i put the clip ons on top of the tripple, you dont have to but it feels better to me a lil higher you jus got to lower the front of the bike about a inch i never had any problems

Re: f4i with 929 forks?

rotating the clipons out is just going to make them hit more.....
those flimsy AL fairing stays snap like pretzels, so fab up a steel on, that pushes the upper forward a bit.... this is what i did, and my clipons dont hit the fairing at all......

good point man, the f4i will take a beating, but in the long run the 929/954 master is stronger and will be better for endos. , i run the f4i master and can still roll them good distance. so whatever makes u happy. but it does suck replacing the litte plastic elbos in the 954 master. And as for the clipons, i say leave them alone. I had absolutely no problems with my upper and the clipons. I just had to remove the air ducts

Re: f4i with 929 forks?

easy swap to do, i would just buy the whole front end though..., 929 front end bolts directly on, but the 954s came with tapered bearings as opposed to the regular bearings that come on 929s and f4is (making them completly enter-changable) as long as it has the correct races its easilly done

also a good point, 929 has the ball bearing type and will be usable. u can bolt it roght up. the 954 bearings are the roller/ barrel type bearings that wont fit the f4i neck. I put All ***** sealed bearings in mine and its turned out smoothe

Re: f4i with 929 forks?

Okay so when it comes to the bearings if you have the 929 set up your good easy no need to worry about changing bearings or races. Now if you have 954 set up your going to have to change out the races because the 954 uses sealed style bearings instead of the *****. My question for you guys now is where do I go to buy the new races for the 954 style sealed bearings and is it hard to remove and reinstall both top & bottom races?

you would get them off the 954 that you took the forks n tripples and wheel off of

Re: f4i with 929 forks?

Okay so if I go to a Honda dealer and buy the 954 top and bottom races NEW I should be able to swap those out with the ones in my F4i pretty easy? I just want so make sure someone has done this and hasn’t screwed anything up trying. I thought you had to have special tools to remove and replace races?

I would also like to ask are the 954 roller/ barrel type bearings really worth going through the hassle of changing out your F4i racers to the 954 racers so that you can have those roller/ barrel type bearings on your bike? If its makes a noticeable difference I am down to changing the racers on my F4i to work with the 954 roller/ barrel type bearings
