Problem putting exhaust on an F4i...
My f4i is an 04. I bought a stock exhaust for it because it was a wreck and it was missing one.
The exhaust was from an 02' f4i and I was told it would fit an 04' I tried to put it on today, and it doesnt seem to be working.
It slips on fine, but it wont line up with the footpeg right, its to far back. Are they just tough to get in place or something?
Also, I noticed right on the end of the header, there is a collar, I assume thats where you would stop slipping the midpipe on, and clamp it down. well if I stop at the collar, the exhaust really doesnt line up with the footpeg at all, its about 3 inches off.
I called the Honda shop with a part number, to make sure its an F4i exhaust, but they told me I had the wrong number, and that honda part numbers come in 3 digits, 5 digits, then 3 more digits. I checked the exhaust and cannot find these numbers anywhere.
Can someone post a picture of there F4i, close up of the spot where the midpipe slides onto the header? I need to see how far the midpipe actually slides on to make sure.
If anyone has any other info. thatd be awesome too, like what my problem is, or where to find a part number to make sure this even is an F4i exhaust.

Re: Problem putting exhaust on an F4i...
The muffler portion of the exhaust system is different between old and new style F4is.....the new style F4i actually uses an old F4 subframe and muffler. You probably have a '01-'03 muffler, which is for the split seat F4i. To answer your question, the correct muffler mid pipe will slide all the way up to the stop on the header. The muffler bracket/passenger peg assembly is also different between the '01-'03 and the '04 and up bikes.

Do you think that will really work? Making my own bracket? I mean, how should I go about doing that?
I didnt know they were different, both Honda shops told me 01-05 f4i's fit everything fine. Thats why I bought this 02' pipe.
God damn Honda shop.
So who thinks I should just make a bracket? Or should I just resell this one and get an 04 pipe.
