Re: f4/f4i front wheel?

My problem is that I think I have an f4 wheel with rotors and maybe the axle on the f4 is bigger than the f4i. When I put the wheel on,is seems to have some slop in it even though the bearings are good.I'm not worried about the rotor problem as much as the play in the wheel.

the axle should be the same because the forks are interchangeable. maybe they take different spacers. look at ronayers microfiche, see if they have the same part #'s

Re: f4/f4i front wheel?

i was told(might not be right) that as long as you have a rim with the corresponding rotors, it will work. becuase like hurricane said, the forks are identical. mabey you have the spacers on the wrong side?

Re: f4/f4i front wheel?

The axle diameter is different. I found that out when ordering bearings for my F4.

What would need to be done to make it fit?

Just for future reference

Re: f4/f4i front wheel?

Well on the f4 and f4i the outer diameter of the bearing is the same but the inner is different for a diff size axle. So you should be able to install the right wheel bearings for your axle and then it should fit. since he found out it was a 929 wheel he could also convert to 929 forks and axle and then it would fit aswell.

Re: f4/f4i front wheel?

929 bearings have a bigger outer diameter. Not much bigger but enough to where they don't fit. I thought they were the same about a year ago when I was putting together my 929 but they don't fit.

Re: f4/f4i front wheel?

A 929 axle won't fit into the f4i fork legs. Gonna get an f4i wheel and be done. 929 wheel for an f4i wheel, anyone?
