get freaked out near balance point...

alright, im new, obviously, and have been practicing getting the front wheel up. everytime i get it really high, i freak out. basically drop the throttle and it comes slamming down.

any tips to help me? its just that the front comes up so fast and catches me off guard.

The bake break is your friends, if you get it up, and get freaked out, practice not chopping the throttle, and learn to use the back break if you get o high. BP feels kinda like the bike is ready to ride out from under you, so get used to the feeling. Takes a while to get used to it.

Re: get freaked out near balance point...

no one's gona go out and learn b/p and break control in a week, just baby steps mate, pratice, pratice, pratice, thats about all you need right now.
i will say always have you foot covering the break and dont be scared to use it.
try using the back break in everyday riding not just stuntin and you'll soon become one

Re: get freaked out near balance point...

its probably better if i just got out and try it. but how much pressure is needed on the back brake to help control when your up there? does just a little help?

You'll eventually get used to it. Bad news is after that, you're gonna want to try something else. lol

Re: get freaked out near balance point...

when doing that (putting left foot on passenger peg) does that change the balance or weight at all? in other words, would i need to rev less than normal? or is it the same?

It's pretty much the same, just less weight off your hands.

Hey, You can always install an anti-loop device on that thing!!
Made on for my home-girl and it worked once!!!!! After that she and the bike all came tumbling down!!!!

Just remember to take it slow , If you ride the brake slightly and add more pressure when you reach "**** your pants point" you'll get it faster than you think.

Good info :YEAH

I learned BP on sitdowns first before I ever really got standups. But now I like standups because your own body helps you stay up more then sitdowns. Now Im trying to put my foot in the seat so I can do no handers. It seems even more scary cause small pressure inputs make the bike steer (which will be great once I learn this ****) like crazy.

Re: get freaked out near balance point...

I learned staggered (foot on passenger peg) standing up, clutching up from a dead stop.

Its all a mental thing--the moment before you hit the gas and drop the clutch is really important--clear your mind, relax and dont think about anything. Dont get pissed off--just keep doing it over and over. It took me a good solid 2 months to feel comfortable in BP.

Its a lot of trial and error too-you WILL give it too much gas and smack the bar real hard and wreck, you WILL stall out and face plant--crashing molds us into real stunters--we crash, we realise what we did wrong, and we get back on the bike as soon as we can. Good luck buddy! Happy stunting!

Re: get freaked out near balance point...

yeah, its all mental.. once ya do your first 12v get the crash out of the way you'll start getting braver and more used to it. just go slow and don;t hurt yourself. and make sure ya got somone around never practice alone incase ya crash.

Getting freaked out goes away after a while. The more you practice the more comfortable you'll be at certain heights till your comfortable before, at and after BP.

To help the bike come up easier, without reving the nuts out of it, try tugging on the bars and throwing your weight back. Tug the bars evenly as possible.
