905 Cage

Ok, it finally got here - my 905 cage. I am going to put this on my 02 R1.

I see it just bolts to the motor/frame mounts. What is the best way to do this? It appears I will have to take out all bolts on one side to mount that side - can the other side hold the weight of the engine or do I have to support the motor? If I have to support the motor how do I do that without taking off the body work?

Any insight appreciated.
Thanks,
Kerry

Re: 905 Cage

put one side on. but dont tightin the bolts all the way down... then put on the other side.. then tightin them down if not you wont be able to get the other side to line up. you dont have to put it on a stand to do it.. just do one side at a time

Mine is not on yet - but will post pictures when complete. The front most stabilizer bar goes behind my headers, they are stock headers.

Re: 905 Cage

Anyone have to shave the lip of the long bolt that is stock with the frame and motor? The rear long bolt has a lip on it that will not allow it to fit into the cage pipe. This is an easy fix, simply shave down the lip, but was wondering why it would be this way.

Any insight?

Thanks,
Kerry
