salvage title
What all is necessary to get a salvage titled motorcycle registerable. Other than lights, mirrors, etc. what kind of steps, paper work, fees is necessary. I found a 04' 636 track bike that i could probably pick up for around $4000. Any help would be great.

Re: salvage title
I remember he was selling it in the Bike For Sale forum for $4,000 and i thought that was pricey, being a track bike and all. . I think he was from Denton, Tx... but it was definitely in the metroplex.
And then he said it was set up for the track but never hit the track for more than 10 minutes or something like that. Just sounded like he was trying to sweeten the deal a little too much and made me wonder.

Yeah it's the same guy. I found it on gixxer.com though. I appreciate the the input. It's not that far of a drive for me though so if he drops the price enough i might head out there and check it out. Can you help me out any with the original question though, just something i'd like to know about.

i don't remember that much about it. And if this site didn't erase all of the threads in the For Sale Forums and start Stunt Trader, i could have found you the link. Sorry...

In Pa, bike has to be back to stock 100%. Take pics when its back to stock. Get it inspected. Take paperwork, receipts from parts, and the pics to the notary. Pay taxes and their fee and they send out the paperwork for the title. 4-6 weeks you get a title.
I also have seen that bike on gixxer.com and here $4000 is too much for a salvage 636 IMO and If I remember you still need to get headlight and things for that bike. You could proabably find a clean titled, great condition one from someone around $5000 obo. I've seen a few here in Pa that ppl are asking $5000, with winter coming you can get em cheaper

Re: salvage title
All my bikes have been salvage titles, and only thing you gotta do to get it tagged...
Make sure it has al lthe nescessary ****, mirrors, turn signals(even intergrated works too).
Then ya just gotta run it thru inspection, then you gotta go thru autotheft. So everything you buy for the bike, make sure you get a VIN # off the bike it came from, OR buy it brand new.
But if you buy used parts you usually need VIN #'s because they check to make sure your not using stolen parts.
Thats all that is involved
