Bought a hooked up stuntbike, and DAM I SUCK!

Just picked up a 01 929 with a 954 motor for a great price. But I tell ya, I really suck on it.

The thing is already hooked up. It has a powers cage and 12 bar, fullthrottleinc hand brake set up, the tank is dented in, and it is rockin a 16/56 scprocket setup.

the problem is the bike is so dam sensitive and twitchy! At a walking pace, I will clutch the bike upp but it seems that the throttle is way sensitive and the bike just slams to the ground the second I modulate the throttle at all!

The thing is just straight up ridiculous. Maybe I just need to put my time in, but the machine just seems like a beast to me.

Too much gearing?

Re: Bought a hooked up stuntbike, and DAM I SUCK!

It's the gearing that makes it twitchy. If your just starting/learning it might be best to go back to stock for a little and just get your wheelies down so your smooth on the throttle and can sit at balance point. Your bike is more than capable of it on stock gearing.

Or just keep practicing with what you got.

Re: Bought a hooked up stuntbike, and DAM I SUCK!

The bike honestly scares me when it jumps up so quickly.

The smallest throttle input has the front end crashing back down to the ground.

Do I just have to grin and bare it, mash the rear brake when it is flying up and hope for the best?

and isn´t there a mapping available for the injection bikes, to make the throttle reaction smoother?

Leave that gearing on and take baby steps. That's the safest way to progress

Re: Bought a hooked up stuntbike, and DAM I SUCK!

man listen. just stick with it.

i went out and bought +13 for my rear abnd stcok front and just went at it. if you dont know how to wheelie at all then its gonna be even harder, but ive learned to park the bike at 12 and get some slow BP. it takes a few days to releran your throttle hand.

dont spend money and watse time going back to stock.

ride that bull.

btw i live in CT too to bad new brit is far as ehell from norwalk. its all about learning the bike, i weigh 125 and ride thise 954 haha

Re: Bought a hooked up stuntbike, and DAM I SUCK!

Is it me or does that 12 bar look long?

Anywho, I found that my other 900 with closer to stock gearing is much easier and less twichy. I get it up and chill now, am not all over the place like I used to be.

12 bar looks real long, it should be about an inch in from where the tail sectin is. right on the tail light, hell mine is 2 inches off the subframe.....

dont turn up the idle if you never done it before !

thats the worst advise to tell someone with no brake controll.

Yar, if you have no brake control and up your idle, you're probably gonna go right back to the bar. And odds are, you won't be straight, so you are gonna corkscrew into a fabulous wreck from doing that.

Re: Bought a hooked up stuntbike, and DAM I SUCK!

I can kill it on a 50, so brake control is not too bad.

I can ride the higway stuff real well on my R1 too.

I am just no good with this new bike, doin the real slow stuff.

Slow is hard homie. I am right where you are. If you are cool and know how to chill in a large group hit me up and I will give you details on where we kill the streets this weekend in CT. No squid funny business though because these two guys almost caused a couple accidents and were about to be beat down....

Re: Bought a hooked up stuntbike, and DAM I SUCK!

12 bar is too long... and do NOT turn up the idle... you will hurt yourself.. 929/954 are naturally really twitchy and sensitive.. your problem is it's not high enough.. or you are just chopping the throttle on the way up, here' show to learn, keep constant pressure on the brake.. put that pressure on it as soon as it lifts up.. keep the throttle on.. then u'll know when it's at bp, rpms will stop, give it a tiny bit more gas, and it'll start to slow down, practice practice, baby steps, n wear your gear. take some pics

Re: Bought a hooked up stuntbike, and DAM I SUCK!

Or try using second gear.. works for me, it's not as rediculously twitchy... Eventually you'll find yourself wanting to use 1st for easier power. Then you're ready and nothing matters any more.
