Damn Nags you killed that poor thing ... I just finished mine yesterday ... wish i woulda seen this post earlier - I did kinda the same thing, just no where near as bad as yours The gas cap wants to stay up - just stand up there and jump on that bit(h .... I ended up sanding the tank denting it with a dead-blow then throwing a little lightweight body filler in and smoothing it ... **** looks mint as hell now - well except for the krylon fusion paint job .... i'll post a pic when i get home ...

It was rubber..
I've dented a ton of tanks and never had a hard time like I did with the F4i one

oh my god, i think i just threw up in my mouth... does it hold 1/4 gallon of gas now? f4i tanks aren't very hard to dent, be patient, i usually jump on it when i'm drunk, then smooth it out... i heard to put a blanket on it.. then a huge weight, and hit the weight

Re: F4i tanks
heres the best way to dent an f4i tank, start at the front of the gas gap, right on the edge of it...place the rubber mallet down, and hit the rubber mallet with a reg hammer...once it dents a lil, start working around the edge...by hitting the rubber mallet with a reg hammer, ur hits are precise, and dent where u want them..work ur way out from the gas cap, until u have teh shape u want....then throw a quick layer of bondo on it, sand it, and ur good to go
