keeping a smoker up there

i have a 98 rgv250, comes up under power in first slight slip of the clutch and a bounce will bring it up at the right revs in second and ive found in third that if i stand on the seat (but i find when i do that ive gotta back off the throttle to much and slow down to much and the bike will start dying on me.

i can ride them out like 200m going through 1st and 2nd but cant stay up there as long as i want.

asked alot of my freinds about it who can wheelie the big bores for miles but all of them say they cant wheelie a two stroke road bike and that they are apparently one of the hardest bikes to wheelie.

was wondering if anyone could give me some advice about keeping the front wheel of these lil monsters in the air, any tricks or important things to know.
