Weird brake feel

It just started doing it the other day, when I get on the front brake the lever almost feels like its run on a rusty cable... the brakes still work fine, no pulsing or anything like that, its just that I pull the lever in maybe half and inch, and I`m not sure how to describe it, I don`t know, it sort of feels like I pull the lever too far, but its just normal braking. I`m thinking its probly the brakes needing bled, but I`m not positive. Like I said, it only started happening the other day. I know this isn`t very descriptive, but its the best I could do... any ideas?

Re: Weird brake feel

What color is the brake fluid? When moisture seeps through the lines and fittings it will turn the fluid black. That would cause your breaks to weaken. That is something that would degrade over time. Not just all of a sudden. Did you wreck or anything or did something happen where air might have gotten into the system? Low on fluid and tip the bike way over so that air sucked into the lines?

Re: Weird brake feel

Pads look good... the fluid is a nasty reddish/brown, definatly not healthy. No wrecks recently, the avatar is about the extent of it, but that was like 3 weekends ago, and this just started like Tuesday night. I`m gonna try to get it to my buddies house tomorrow if I have time to get the fluid changed front and back just because they cuold both use it, hopefully that helps.

Re: Weird brake feel

my bike was out in the rain overnight and then the lever felt "sticky." Instead of being smooth it was real jerky. I just WD-40'd that sucker and now it great.
