98 900 electrical

So I`m out at the spot today, doing my garbage wheelies and I pull over to take a break, shut the bike off like normal... go to start it back up and I have no electric. Battery is fine because the headlight still works (on its own switch), but I have no electric to the dash what so ever. I havn`t started tearing it down yet to check the fuses and what not but I figured I`d post up and see if there was anything else that was common on the 900s to **** the electric up. Thanks in advance.

Re: 98 900 electrical

Sounds like a fuse to me. I was having troubles and found a wire that was shorting against the frame. It may be a one off, but check to make sure no wires are exposed. Check the connection to the reg/rectifier too....

Good luck.

I had the same prob..... sometimes it would shut off while running...... after checking fuses, I ended up finding a bad stock connector in front of the fuse panel..... the mains...... 4 wires I think, white connector..... just hardwired em...... its fine now.

Re: 98 900 electrical

same here, a hot bike somehow melted my ign wires. bare wire touched frame and kept blowing fuses. Definately a starting point.

I`m gonna go tear it apart here in a little bit, I`ll post up if I figure it out. Thanks for the tips.
