Needs help on set-up of 929 forks on F4i with keeping my stock fairings
Okay guys I said F@ck it! I went and bought a set of 929 forks to install on my full faring F4i. I am trying to find out what I might have to do to keep the stock front end on so will I have to cut anything to make it work? Will I have to worry about my hands hitting anything since the 929 triple clams seen to be much wider than the stock F4i triple clamps? I would really like for some of you guys who have this set-up to please hook a brother up with some knowledge. I will greatly appreciate any information you can pass on to me and if you got pictures even better! Thanks guys :YEAH

TeamCLC has a 954 front end on his f4i and he was running full fairings for awhile, I believe all he had to ditch the ram air tubes. Where you at Tony?

the clip ons will hit the faring stay so either buy a 905 one or find out where its gona hit and cut a small knotch out, if ur running a hand brake this is a must for it to have clearence, hope this helps a lil bit

Thanks Dano,
If anyone can take pictures with full fairings from the sitting position (showing top view) that would help out also, oh yeah and any cut required areas so if you are rocking a full fairing F4i with 929 or 954 fork set-up hook a brother up!

Re: Needs help on set-up of 929 forks on F4i with keeping my stock fairings
Sorry it took so long, but here goes-
I have all the stock plastic, ram air tubes, covers and all. I did have to remove the resonance chamber on the top of each tube. I pulled the plastic ducts out of the upper, heated them up, and flattened them into a more oval shape to make more room for the fork legs and lower triple clamp on either side. I had to trim my upper a little on either side to make room for the bars, and I had to cut the air duct covers where they bend up to meet the upper fairing (the area that covers the resonance chambers). I made my own upper faining stay that bolts to the stock lower stay, because my bars kept hitting the stock one....no amount of notching was gonna cure that, mostly because I have a handbrake, and also because I run my bars almost straight out as opposed to angled back in the stock position. Because of my bar position, I also had to re-locate my gauges. I like to have them, so Hinks came up with a way to put them into the back of my headlight, which worked out pretty well. Its not too bad to do the conversion, it just gets irritating when everything hits. My bars still hit the upper at full lock, but if you don't run them out as far, you probably won't have much of a problem.

Re: Needs help on set-up of 929 forks on F4i with keeping my stock fairings
Thanks Standy for the pictures so are you rocking the factory 929/954 bars? I thought you or someone mentioned something about positioning the bars to make it work is that the case? Can I just go with the factory bars stop location? When I say bar stop location I mean normally where you install the bars under the top tree not any further in or out.
I take it Standy that your stay is custom made right? Does anyone know if the 905 aftermarket stay will work????????

my only Q on this is does the scotts dampner MOUNT kit fit the f4i/929/954 converion or do u have to buy a type specific? IE: mount kit for the 929 or 954

Re: Needs help on set-up of 929 forks on F4i with keeping my stock fairings
I run 954 bars because you can swing them out a little further due to the thinner casting, but the 929 bars work fine too. If you run either the 929 or 954 bars in the stock location, they won't hit the upper nearly as much.
As far as the Scotts mount kit goes, The F4i kit is what you want. I have a 954 kit on mine, but I had to put spacers under the tank mount bracket, because the 954 frame is taller than the F4i. The stem nut and bracket are the same.
