i was looking at pricing for all these cages and 12' bars, can't i just make them? all my buddies own shops and have piping weld like crazy. any tips on making a cage? 12 bar looks easy as hell. i got a 98 tl1000s, can i base off of a 905 cage? that is what everyone is telling me to get.

Nope, its physically impossible, no matter what tools and materials you have at your disposal to make a cage unless you work for 905, FI, MXD, or Powers.

12 bars are easy, cages take a bit more time to get right, but plenty of people make them from scratch and save $$$

here is a simple pic to guide you in making a 12've bar. The scrape plate of the 12ve bar should match up to the red line.

I was told the easiest way to make a 12 bar is to use jusr round tubing as the scrape bar and then go and scrape it and drag it for a bit so it gets a flat spot on it the just weld flat iron on the flat spot at the same angle. working on one right now so I will let you know how it works
