Re: 954 $4,000? Good price?
hahha sounds like a super scam to me!! was it off ebay? i saw so many brand new bikes on ebay for like 4000. a brand new cbr 1000, and a gsxr 1000. both a year old and both under 4000. i emailed them and they both sent me the same EXACT sob story about how the bike was a present for his brother who then died in a car accident and they didnt want the bike around anymore b/c its a reminder of him. SUPER SKETCHY.
lol
just thought id warn you tho. but yah that sounds like a good deal. if you dont buy it i will.

The way I look at it is you get what you pay for. There are very few quality things out there that don't have some kind of strings attached to them. I would ask myself was the bike salvaged, stolen, or a mechanical piece of **** he's trying to dump and make a quick buck on. Deals that are too good to be true normally are.
That being said, if the deal is legit, than a 54 for that kind of money is unheard of especially since he bought it last year. He knows how much it cost him maybe's he's just hurting for a dollar. If that's the case you ran across a gold mine. A dealer near me has a leftover '03 and he was going to charge my boy $8900 before taxes, tags, freight, and assembly. He could get at least 5-6 grand if he took it to a dealer. Seems strange to me.
Good luck!

Just for a little comparison...
Retail book value for an average condition 03 54 is $7450.
I bought my salvage rebuildable 02 for $4250... 1281 miles, but all cosmetics trashed.

Sounds sketch to me... I paid 7 grand for an 02 just 6 months ago. But it was mint with 1500 miles. I would make sure you see the bike and have it in front of you before you send any money or use an escrow service if you are buying it off ebay.

Re: 954 $4,000? Good price?
I just bought an 02 954 with 6K miles on it for $5500... this thing is a lot Mintier than I was looking for, but it seemed like too good of a deal to pass up (scorpion exhaust system, brand new unmounted set of tires, high end windshield, sliders, etc.)
Anyhoo, how are these bad boys for stunting? I am moving from an 04 GSXR 750 that was -1 +2
