having trouble going into first
When my bike is in neutral and i go to put it in first it makes a clicking sound and i have to keep my foot down so it eventually goes in. What could i check? Also, my second gear is messed up to so for the past 8 months ive been going right to 3rd cuz it slips out fo second gear. As soon as i save up enough money im going to take it in for the second gear problem but does the trouble going into first gear have ne thing to do with the second gear or what else could it be? thanks

Re: having trouble going into first
your transmission is toast, unless your a good mechanic, swap it for another motor. its a lot of work to rebuild the tranny. the price youd pay to have somebody else rebuild it, you could buy a whole other motor to swap in and then you still have yours as a spare or could sell it

well i have a good mechanic that only costs for 30 or 35 an hr i forget, so he said it would only be like 200 in labor to take apart and 200 to put back together and whatever parts costs when he takes it apart. so i guess ill be saving up the money so i can get it fixed.

So when you going to come get the heap crap out of my garage??? j/k I agree with the rest of the guys, might be better off getting a new motor/tranny. We could swap that out really easy.

Dude,
your tranny problem is probably not as bad as you think. You've more than likely just got worn shift forks. They really are an easy fix. You'll need a manual to do it, but it's parts 3,4,and 5 - the image shown is for an '02 R6, btw (don't know what model yours is)
You basically can access everything through the oil pan

Re: having trouble going into first
its not that easy. if its like the r6, you have to pull the motor and split the cases. second gear problems on r6's are from worn dogs, not the shift forks. it might be just a yzf, so i dont know if theyre the same or not

its not an R6, its just a yzf600r. Everyone i talked to said that the case needed to be split in order to work on it. Im leaning towards the motor swap. What can be done to prevent it from happening again if i do a motor swap??
