Any one know where the drain plug for the tranny oil in a GSXR is?? or does the tranny use the same oil as the moter?

it uses the same oil as the engine, thats why you need motorcycle oil(instead of auto oil), it has friction modifiers for the clutch plates.

i put auto oil in mine..seems to run fine ill prolly use MC oil next oil change tho

yeah I always use Mobil1 full synth, for cars, and never had a problem with a clutch.

Well, mobil 1 is expensive when compared to cheap conventionals, but not as expensive as some motorcycle oils. It works great for me...

motorcylce oils do not have friciton modifiers. that is some bs the dealer told you to sell you what is equivalent to aoutozone generic oil with a manufacturer sticker on it for the price of full synthetic. Dont buy that crappy oil any of the major brands of regular oil are better and synthetic is 10x better than either. Bikes with a wet clutch were designed to run in oil. any kind of oil. if it were bad for them they would have a dry clutch like ducati.

Same goes for oil filters and coolant and most other disposable items for bikes. the manufacturer buys generic crap sticks a sticker on it and marks up the price 400%. then they tell people who dont know better that the product is specifically designed for their brand of bike. This is a blatant lie. Most premium brand name products are 10x better for your bike, but not for the dealer because they don't carry the same insane markup.

I did a search and there's quite a lot of info out there, and i stand corrected. The dealer did not tell me that though, an auto teacher i had who used to be a head moto mechanic told me that, and I can tell you he believed it. I guess there's some serious shadyness going on out there, thanks for correcting me.

Castrol GTX Synthetic works awsome for me and its pretty reasonable. Never had any problems with my 929's.

Actually almost any motor oil will work. But if you use a car oil that has special additives (like a high mileage oil) you can kiss your clutch plates goodbye!!!! Mobil1 is great oil and any other car oil for that fact, but stay away from oils with additives for stuff like high milage!

What about Mobil 1 Extended Performance? It's Mobil 1 yet high mileage. Also, I was on Mobil1.com and saw they produce motorcycle oil. They actually answer the question of "What's the difference between car oil and motorcycle oil?".
