How torquey is the 636?

People tell me that the 636 has torque comming out the ying yang. Does it have enough to lift it up with a 180-200 pound rider in the tank in second though with stock gearing?

I"m sure it does. I'm about 185. I"m geared -1 +7 but it doesn't take a whole lot to get it up in 2nd.. Why don't you go up in your gearing?

Bring up second on the pegs or the seat then jump to the tank.

love the way it feels but don't think it'll bring it up stock second on the tank.

It will come up on the tank in 2nd, stock geared, just fine. I weigh over 200 and had no problems. I'm -1+16 now and can get it up in 4th on the tank if I really rip on it.

Re: How torquey is the 636?

Yeah they're really torquey after 8k, I don't notice much difference in power coming from an 02 954. The difference is that the 954 has it almost immediately and the 636 takes a while to build power.

Re: How torquey is the 636?

I can clutch a 3rd gear sitdown on stock gearing on one and I weigh 285 i must use my weight to my advantage and lean way back. I do it at about 50-55 mph.

yeah, but he is asking about sitting on the tank and popin' it up...and when doing standup you can, as you say, use weight in your advantage, but when sitting on tank, your weight is only making it harder...
