Wheelie on new tire

I just got a new tire put on.. Rode it for about 40 miles and wanted to try it out. It seems when I clutched it up it wanted to go to one side, even after i dropped the tire pressure. How long do you guys wear in a new tire before stunting on it?

Re: Wheelie on new tire

if it's a new tire and pulling to the side, it's because the rear wheel isn't strait.

i use bridgestone battleaxes...

If the wheel wasnt straight then Id definitely feel it riding crooked down the road..... i guess ill just keep it on 2 wheels a couple of days.

Not necessarily, even if you take your hands off the bars and the bike goes straight it doesn't mean the wheels straight. You'll compensate for it with your positioning and won't know it. Check out to see if it's straight, other wise the belt might be off in it, i've had a couple bad tires before.

Are you referring to 65psi in your tires? that beyond recommended pressure of the tire, for street and carving i run 36 in my front and 32 in my rear cold. That's the max you should need to run, if you're looking for stability drop it down to 20-22 in the rear.

Re: Wheelie on new tire

How bad was your old tire? I know when I go from a flat spotted beat up old tire, to a new, round/pointy tire, the first few wheelies don`t feel right. Just something else that might be whats causing it.

The old tire was worn, but I replaced it because it had a piece of wire jammed in it.

I have had new tires do this.

If you can do rolling burnouts try this.

If the bike i pulling to the right do some burnouts to the left.

When I had a tire that had me pulling there was nothing I could do at that time. It was earlyer in my stunting experence. I know now that if the front tire isn't high enough it's hard to steer the bike during wheelis.
