How to chop OR shorten pipe
I installed a High mount pipe on my 929. The exhaust is very long and passes the tail in length.
Now im scated of doing wheelies on it, becuse im 101% its going to scrape the pipe and mess it up.
I've heard several people looping their bikes because the pipe was too long, and i dont want to be one of them!!
Whats the best way to chop/shorten the pipe by a few inches?
I want to have this done flawlessly making it seem perfect, becuase the pipe i have is an ARATA pipe, and those damn things are the most Expensive pipes out there.
Any help with pictures would be apprecaited.....

DON'T STUNT YOUR BIKE WITH THE ARATA PIPE! if you only plan on doing wheelies (different from stunting) then you will be fine, it will never come close unless you go up to damn near 12!!! and if you don't know what you are doing and accidentally 12 it, you're going to crash reguardless of pipe length...
but if you are going to STUNT this bike, i would suggest selling that pipe, making a bunch of loot, and putting whatever you can find cheap on there!

Re: How to chop OR shorten pipe
I scrape my pipe on my R6 and it doesnt feel any different then scraping the tail. My pipe hit the floor for about 3-4 scrapers before it started to touch the tail, now theres about 1/2 an inch ground off both. Either way if you smash it its gonna through you off you gotta just tap it, and to do either your past 12 coastin.
PS let it scrape my end caps are Ti like the Arata and they let off the sickest sparks when I scrape. Even though Im lookin forward at night I can see the back of the bike light up like a sparkler out of the corner of my eyes. :YEAH

Re: How to chop OR shorten pipe
cut it with a metal vertical bandsaw and re rivet it , cut the baffle and packing to length and it will be all good
if its a non rivet type, cut it in the vertical bandsaw, then have it welded and polish it out

Re: How to chop OR shorten pipe
I just used a sharp new hacksaw. use some masking tape and make your line, then drill out your rivets with some pimp drill bits, then re-rivet the tip back on. works fine, and should only take about an hour if your take your time.Oh yeah, I completely gutted my yosh can, so there aint nothin in that sucka, so its madd loud!

Re: How to chop OR shorten pipe
i had a brand new erion pipe on the used 929 i bought. I didn't want to just sell it or cut it half ***. So i went to a local welding shop. I had them cut it and weld it. The weld was hidden cuz the strap for the pipe that connects to the passenger peg was covering it. All in all, it was clean and real sturdy...but most importantly..it looked factory. It cost 60 dollars but it was worth it to me

Re: How to chop OR shorten pipe
what i did with my 954 stock can:
put it on a chop saw, buy a rivet gun for $20, re-rivet it and done.
If i were to do it over again i would maybe cut from the bottom sode since there is only one pipe instead of 4. Plus i think you might be able to keep the exhaust tip
