Re: f4i fork seal

how often do you blew seals. my 954 seals lasted 6000miles from new.(my part 3000), constant wheelie slamming down and endos.

Re: f4i fork seal

F4i seals rarely blow out. I had my last set of forks with over 20,000 + miles on them and never had to replace a seal

Re: f4i fork seal

I just got done rebuilding mine... when you drain the old fluid out... go get the cheapest 10w oil you can get and fully extend the fork... then fill thefork up COMPLETELY w/ the oil. Then remove the fork seal retaining ring, then find someway of compressing the fork.. and the cheap oil you put in will force it out. Or you can do it like i did, and completely tear apart the fork, and just yank on the fork tube until the seal pops out. Also, use your old seals to drive the new ones in. and use a rubber mallet hammer to install it, that way you don't scratch the fork tube. I replaced the fluid in mine w/ Honda suspension fluid. it took 2 bottles and they cost like $12 for both.

ohh yea.. the fork seal kit costs about $28 per fork.

Re: f4i fork seal

this is the first seal that blew on my f4i its been abused for almost 4 years now lol. So any pointers on getting the seals out or is it pretty easy once the snap rings are out?
