F4i blew-up... ?!?!

ok so my F4i motor is basicly toast....

it sent something (probaly the piston) flying out of the motor.
i had about 4 to 4 1/2 quarts of oil, it wasnt over heating, im only -1 and +6 so i dont think ive been running it that hard...

but i did have that stuntex oil pick up put in about a month ago and it really did make it feel smoother but i guess when i did wheelies on the highway it didnt get enough oil or something?!

your idea's?

Re: F4i blew-up... ?!?!

who installed the pick up? Maybe it has to do with the install and not the pickup.....how many miles were on the motor?

I wonder if the stuntex lets it run dry when your decelerating or braking....the oil sloshes forward then, and away from the pick up. I dunno....Stuntex guys???

Re: F4i blew-up... ?!?!

Spencer, I told you I will help you out anyway I can lil bro. We were all talkin about ya last night after you called us from the side of the road tryin to figure out what happened. We are all running the pickups and you have personally seen me beat the ever living **** out of my engine banging revlimiter coasties for days. Sometimes motors just blow. I havent had problems rocking out long wheelies at speed, the only difference is.. and dont take this the wrong way... but none of us are rocking miles on end at a constant 12K rpms. I think pretty much everyone knows you cant do that. I say call me up after we get back from mexico. I can come pick up your bike and we can pull the head on it. My guess is that you dropped a valve and obliterated the piston. keep those parts cause I wanna look at that rod and the cap. Usually when you spin a rod bearing and end up throwing the rod through the block like that there is alot more scoring and burn marks. We'll check it out.

Re: F4i blew-up... ?!?!

The rod bearing is definitely gone, cant tell if it spun or fell out after the cap busted off the rod from looking at the pics tho. That wristpin looks beat. Get at me with that bike. I am interested to see exactly what went wrong.

PS: lemme have your stator cover...

i installed it myself... but i installed it exactly how brad (lb3) showed me how to. and i dont think that was it, i think it was just the one in a million that decided to fail.

so my question now is... should i look for a new motor... or just try and replace what got ****ed up?

Re: F4i blew-up... ?!?!

What oil did you use?

Looks like the rod broke, probably because the bearing(rod big end) failed. Then the rod(what's left of it) bangs the block to pieces.

bad luck anyways.
