building a stuntbike

I want to piece together a bike. I sold my totaled gsxr 1000. Now i want to build a stuntbike. I'm just trying to get the answer of what is my best choice to build. I hear nothing but 98 99 900rr. i know everybody has there different taste but figured since there are sooo many parts availble it would be cheaper to build. i'm just trying to get an idea of the best all around bike. before i start buying a wrecked bike or start with a frame and do it the hard way. thanks

Re: building a stuntbike

I am guessing you are planning on not registering it? If so, get as much Hondo 900 stuff you can, especially if you are a beginner. I had an 03 Gix 6 and an 01 750. FI bikes are twitchy and harder to get used to. I love my 9 hunit now and am having a great time learning it.

Re: building a stuntbike

carbs are a pain in the ***. If you are a bike whiz go ahead. Otherwise get an FI bike. The most durable ones are the 929 or f4i.

Re: building a stuntbike

Thing about the build up is that you can buy a frame, engine, forks, swing arm, wheels etc. no problem. Its all the small **** and fastners that'll kill ya. Theres a million things to buy, and it'll take forever as you'll get close and then have ot buy something else on ebay, or you'll get the wrong part in the mail, and have to re-order. Best bet is to buy either a wreck or a clean frame to put on a junk/salvage bike you can get for cheap.

Re: building a stuntbike

thanks, yeah i didn't think i wanted to go with the carb. i'm leaning more towards gettin a wrecked 929 or somthin. I saw a 2000 929 with 13k mi. a few banged up fairings and it said it leaked oil for 3500. i'm gonna keep lookin around for one. i do still want one i can register for the road though. i appreciate the info
