clutch push rod [ HELP,HELP]

clutch push rod [ HELP,HELP] whats up everyone, Has anyone ever put in a clutch in a 97 gsxr 600?? I put in the new clutch it whent in fine well i put on the pressure plate and locknut than i put in the pushrod and then the presure plate lifter... Well I can't get the snap ring back into its groove.. it;s almost like the push rod needs to go in a hair more.. ANY IDEAS ANYONE THANKS
