Slipping wheelies after sprocket change

I only went -1 +2 on my R6 and I when I try to pull up wheelies I can feel the rear slipping on me. I thought it was cuz my tire was bald so I changed, put a couple hundred miles on it and it still does the exact same thing, Its not a constant slip, more like a pulsing slip, very strange feeling. Anyone had similar experiences? If I need to use less throttle its a hair line because I've tried and I cant keep it climbing up unless its slipping, its really strange. Maybe I should just go back to stock. And yeah my tire was warm, I was trying today after riding for 45 minutes.

Yeah, it definatley depends on the tire and the streets your on...out here in vegas, u can never get your tire warm enough, i slide almost every turn i go into, and I can never pull it up without the tire slipping for a second or two first...you just have to learn to account for it...oh, and have fun

Its a Sportec M1, I prefer D 208's but I won these in a contest so I figured I'd use them. I did notice a bit if I forced thru the slipping it kinda mellows out but it was still strange.

Re: Slipping wheelies after sprocket change

I had a m1 that was used up once on the back of my gsxr1k... That thing would slip and slide all over the place... Every time I would clutch 2nd it would slide to the right and I would launch crooked. A friend of mine watched from behind me once and told me the tire would go way out of shape when I released the clutch. Changed the tire and problem solved.

Try less gas and more body english. I had the same problem when I went up 10 in the rear.

Re: Slipping wheelies after sprocket change

I have a 160 M-1 on my F2 and have absolutely no problems. I've ridden in thunderstorms and it hasn't spun once launching a wheelie from a stop or any speed.

Re: Slipping wheelies after sprocket change

I've got the m-1's too on my gsx-r 1000. No problems. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd all day. I run 25 psi. Try that and maybe it'll help.

Re: Slipping wheelies after sprocket change

is you're chain jumping on the sprocket? it sounds dumb, but that's what i'm thinking since it's a pulsing slip... i rode a long time with my chain jumping teeth cause i'm a lazy bastard.

Yeah my bike did that when the chain had hard spots, I replace the chain and it's smooth as **** now.

Re: Slipping wheelies after sprocket change

it really all depends on how your doin it.... im sure people can bring up a woolie in snow with a track slick...

sounds like lower psi on it and practice some

i was just checkin out your avatar and your way to far up on the bike... you need to lean back, so im sure that is a big factor with your slippin
