i have the thermostat out(race bike style) hard wired fan, water wetter(tried regular coolant, same ****)

any help or advise would be appreciated.

220-235 while stuntin on an 80 degree day does'nt sound bad to me. Even at 15 min of high idle it sound about right.

Re: 636 over heating issues

Those temps dont sound to diff from mine either, but I run Engine Ice instead of water/coolant/water wetter, etc. and have had better luck with it. Also you can add another fan..maybe even have the added one on all the time and the stock one hooked to your normal temp sensor so they both run only at high temp.

Also if you are causing high temps, you could make a run up and down the spot your at to bring the temp down quick.

Re: 636 over heating issues

Yeah I noticed that too mine runs at 220. I'd do some stoppie runs to get it down some

Re: 636 over heating issues

how would you go about mounting another fan on the radiator???

i do try to cool it down with stoppies, but it doesn't help much cause the clutch is in and i'm rollin a ways, when the clutch is in the water pump isn't pumping as much....it just pisses me off, guys with f4i's can rock till they get tired, i have to park the ***** when it starts flashing 240 at me!

Re: 636 over heating issues

Put the thermostat back in dummy! Or atleast a restictor to slow down the flow of the coolant so that it has time to dissipate heat through the radiator. Without the stat it flows too fast and doesn't have time to cool.

Re: 636 over heating issues

What you need to do is make a switch for your fan so that it stays on all the time this will make it run alot cooler. Make sure your exhaust is on also as stated above I ran into that issure this weekend.

Re: 636 over heating issues

my fan is hardwired on at all times already

racebikes run no thermostats???? i thought that the thermostat was to allow the motor to get up to running temp faster? but after it's warmed up it stays open all the time from the pressure(thus that big *** spring that operates it)???

Most bikes have the stock fan on one side of the radiator, so you usually have room to add a second fan on the other side. You should be able to grab at least one factory mounting point and then use metal straps from the fan housing to the other mounting points on the radiator.

I have my stock fan to the factory temp sensor and an additional fan on all the time with ignition. Also, as I said above, we have had good luck using Engine Ice intead of colant/water or water wetter type products. You pour Engine Ice in straight and don't add water...runs quite a bit cooler (a bout 10 degrees or so)

Re: 636 over heating issues

racebikes run the thermostat just like any normal everyday bike.
the thermostat is open only when it needs to be open. "to allow the cooled water in the radiator to flow into the engine while the HOT water in the engine is allowed to flow into the radiator to be COOLED. the big *** spring is what regulates this operation.
put your thermostat back in and run your fan as you have it. would prob. work best in your case to run the waterwetter, engine ice etc.
